COMPLEX REGIONAL PAIN SYNDROME

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), is a chronic pain disorder. In many cases, CRPS occurs after one sustains an injury (such as a crush injury or a bone fracture) in a car accident, truck accident, bus accident or work related accident.

CRPS is characterized by extreme, debilitating pain, which is often much more severe than the original injury.  The injured person’s mobility can also be significantly reduced from CRPS, as it becomes difficult to move the affected body part.

The symptoms of CRPS can also spread from one body part to another without any new injury.

There is no known cure for CRPS. There are treatment options, many of which are aimed at pain management, including the following:

  • Pain Medication
  • Spinal cord stimulators
  • Trigger point injections
  • Nerve blocks
  • Epidural Injections
  • Physical Therapy
